An aging sorcerer, Poros, needs a dragon's egg for a spell to regain his youth.  He successfully steals an egg, but finds himself pursued by first the mother alone and then by a flock of dragons.  Poros is clever and resourceful; the dragons are relentless; and the issue is in doubt to the very end.
