Over a month since I last posted? I need to do better.
I wound up not sending the space serial to the magazine. (Rookie mistake: I’d only skimmed the guidelines instead of reading them carefully.) On the other hand, that leaves me free to expand it and publish it myself (at least as a e-book; I don’t know whether it will be worth having it in paperback as well [side note: I hope it will; there’s something about having a physical book…]). So I went back and reworked Parts 1 and 2 into about 2500 words each, then typed in 3 and 4 (heavily revising and adding as I went — and, I think, improving); I’m now on Part 5.
The second Zoe story wasn’t working (I’d gotten off on the wrong foot) so I tossed it. I’ve been planning the new version and will get back to it when the space book is done.
